Classic definition: To withdraw to a place of safety and seclusion, based on the mid 16th Century French term, “retirer”
Reality: A stage of human development which can occur by choice or abruptly, leaving one feeling untethered in the world

I actually retired from two careers: one as a teacher (26 years), and one as a university administrator (8 years). The final retirement came as a surprise in just one day, without any prior notice. No wonder some reflection was in order. Whether we share the same demographic or not, I'm hoping you will find some ideas to ease your transition and power you to a delightful new life!
